4 Greyhound Racers accepts a variety of greyhounds into our adoption program- retired racers, retired brood moms & studs, injured hounds, tripods, and sometimes puppies. We often receive dogs into our care who take longer to place as a result of our open door policy. 4 Greyhound Racers still assumes full responsibility for these hounds, even though our costs for them are much higher than an adoption fee would cover.
Perhaps you're not looking to adopt, or can’t consider one of these special hounds, but are looking for a way to help them? That’s why we offer Hound Sponsorship!
When you Sponsor one of our longer-term or special needs fosters, you become his or her fairy godmother! You help provide food, medical care, and other necessities while they remain in 4 Greyhound Racers’s care. You also help us to continue to take in new hounds, never turning away a hound due to age or special medical needs.
To give you an idea of the costs involved in caring for a long-term resident, here are some numbers:
- Feed a hound for one month – $45
- Feed a hound for one year – $360
- Yearly vaccines – $100
- Spay / Neuter/ Dental – $600
- Heartworm and Flea / Tick prevention for one year – $175
